About Us

 Hello!

Welcome to The Lighthouse Project's website! We are a small organisation that was set up in July 2019 aiming to support children, young people and their families in Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire. While the coronavirus pandemic did slow down the progress we were able to make over 2020, we are hoping 2021 will be a much better year and we'll be able to do more and more for the area! We're currently working on building this online space to offer support while we cannot in person, as well as set up our office space in the Tide Turners community building so we'll have a base to operate out of!

Our Goals:

  • Build a stronger community
  • Offer a place for young people where they will be supported and listened to
  • Deliver opportunities to help children and young people with their development that will increase and strengthen their prospects for the future
  • Encourage the children (and everyone else!) to be proud of their town, their home

Before the pandemic hit, we managed to get off the ground with our reading campaign "A Novel Idea", where we hide 60 books throughout Sutton-on-Sea for children to find, read and hide again for someone else to find! This book exchange was quite successful as all books were found and some were re-hidden, while most were exchanged within the primary school. Through donations from students at QEGS, Alford and some local families, we collected 200 books for all aged children, with approximately 140 now being in our own library in our office ready to be used for future campaigns!

We also started a study group in the library on Thursday evenings for secondary school and sixth form students, but this had to be cancelled early on when public venues were closed in March 2020. We're hopeful that this will be able to start up again in the future!
